Accounts Receivable Billing Associate

Accounts Receivable Billing Associate
The Accounts Receivable Billing Associate will primarily be responsible for performing billing processes which include contract review, order entry, bill creation and distribution, revenue scheduling, customer care and financial reporting. This person will work closely with Sales/Sales Operations, Legal, Customer Success, IT, and the Finance team to drive best practices for athena’s Billing/Revenue Operations team.

Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate monthly invoicing process, ensuring invoicing and revenue recognition is accurate, complete, and in compliance with customer contracts as well as Sarbanes-Oxley controls
  • Prepare month end reporting related to billing accuracy, opportunity reviews & metrics
  • Ensure proper controls are in place and adhered to
  • Process monthly client invoices and ensure accuracy of billing
  • Review customer contracts for pricing guidance and any billing exceptions
  • Assist with revenue recognition, amendment processing and month end activities as needed
  • Participate on various billing projects as well as cross functional initiatives to drive process improvements as well as customer satisfaction by striving for zero billing errors
  • Establish relationships with external clients, Sales/Sales Operations, Customer Success, Legal, EBA and Finance team.
  • Participate in and manage the period end closing activities including AR, deferred and revenue account analysis and reconciliations
  • Suggest and implement workflow optimizations to continuously improve our billing cycle process within our new ERP environment
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager of Billing Operations


Typical Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
  • Familiarity with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley controls related to the Revenue Cycle
  • Experience on a production billing operations, finance, or accounting team
  • Operational Accounting experience as it relates to the Billing Cycle is preferred
  • Proficiency in SalesForce or Oracle is a strong plus
