Job Summary
Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm
Responsibilities
Maintain current knowledge in areas of third party billing and follow-up regulations, Lowell General compliance, completing accurate and timely billing, maintaining correct account balances
Prepare accounts timely for billing following third party regulations
Review Accounts for accuracy of demographic and insurance information. Make necessary corrections. Notify supervisor of patterns
Review accounts for reasonableness of charges. Follow up with appropriate departments to ensure charges are corrected. Notify supervisor of trends.
Analyze remits for accuracy of payment following Lowell General reimbursement schedule.
Make adjustments as necessary.
Notify supervisor of discrepancies. Allocate assigned accounts to next appropriate payer.
Research open accounts in the control in a timely manner. Balances will be reviewed and adjusted when necessary. Document all contacts made or received and actions taken.
Analyze credit balances following hospital guidelines. Report trends to Supervisor.
Prepare and process refunds or void requests following hospital guidelines.
Respond to inquiries related to accounts made by third party insurer, patient, or patient’s representative.
Assist as needed posting electronic remittances to accounts
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
1-3 years of health insurance experience or knowledge
