Accounts Receivable Specialist (New York, NY)

The ideal candidate has an accounting background with experience in all accounts receivable related functions. They have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks with a problem-solving attitude.

• This position is considered hybrid and requires a blend of work from home and in office, 4 days per week in the office based on business needs.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

• Process billing for all contractual and on-demand customers
• Ensure timely collection of payments
• Investigate delinquent accounts and contact customers to collect payment as expeditiously as possible
• Follow up consistently to monitor the expected customer payment dates and make allowances with management approval and examination of customer payment plans, payment history, and credit line
• Initiate collections on past-due accounts
• Investigate circumstances of non-payment; negotiate and resolve conflicts; expedite payment.
• Process and post customer payments and refunds
• Record bank deposit activity to ensure proper balances in operating and clearing accounts
• Verify discrepancies and resolve customer billing issues
• Perform customer account reconciliations
• Conduct credit checks on new customers
• Work closely with the Sales and Ops teams to ensure there are no outstanding issues with customer accounts and invoicing procedures
• Review contracts for accuracy and completeness
• Report on collection activity, Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), and accounts receivable aging status
• Assist in general financial management and analysis
• Work with finance team to develop strategies to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of Accounts Receivable policies and procedures
• Participate in ad-hoc accounting and finance projects

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable
• Strong computer skills including Accounting Systems/ERP and excel
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
• Ability to function independently and effectively in a self-directed environment
