Adjunct Faculty - First Year Torts

The primary purpose of the Part-Time Adjunct Faculty person is to teach courses in areas of their expertise. The first year torts courses focus on intentional torts, negligence and related doctrine, nuisance, defamation and specific causes of action under strict liability and products liability theories.

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:

  • Teach a specified number of classes
  • Revise, review and/or develop curriculum, as needed
  • Complete all required professional development/training
  • Collect and submit required assessment of student learning data
  • Participate in appropriate campus and system committees, meetings, projects, and activities

Requirements:

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from a law school approved by the American Bar Association (ABA), accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California or registered by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California, required
  • Admission to at least one U.S. jurisdiction. An active license is not required, so long as the attorney has not been disbarred or suspended via a formal finding of discipline by that state, required
  • Professional work experience in civil litigation required
  • Prior Law School teaching experience, preferred
  • Experience teaching in an online format, preferred.

California Pay Transparency requires a pay range for all postings. The pay range for St. Francis School of Law adjunct faculty is $1,500 to $4,000 per course.
