Serves as Office Manager/Administrative Coordinator I to the Chair of the Department of Communication. Assists with students services support. Serves as department's secondary registration coordinator. Performs other duties as assigned. This position is one of responsibility and trust. Must have high standards of integrity and professionalism.
45% - Essential - Administrative Support to Department Chair:
Manages the Department of Communication¿s main office while providing administrative support to the Department Chair. Assists in scheduling meetings for the Department Chair. Coordinates travel arrangements for the Department Chair. Provides specialized assistance to the Department Chair in developing, analyzing, and implementing policies, procedures, and projects. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with various constituencies involving inquiries, resolving complaints or problems, yet maintaining and guarding special and confidential information as a liaison for the Department Chair. Screens all incoming calls to Department Chair and often returns calls on the Chair¿s behalf and serves as buffer for the Department Chair in critical situations.
35% - Essential - HR and Personnel Management:
Processes hiring paperwork and Tiger Talent requests. Manages payroll accounting for all employees, staff, graduate assistants, and hourly undergraduate lab assistants. Reviews payroll transactions and verifies each employee is receiving the accurate rate of pay. Coordinates corrections with the College and Human Resources offices. Advises in confidential matters related to salaries. Verifies student assistantships and wages payments. Compiles data and prepares information for salary studies and analysis. Enters HR data for all employees. Compiles data for faculty summer stipends, dual employment and grants. Collects and enters hourly employee time sheets into the payroll system.
20% - Essential - Fiscal and Procurement Assistance:
Assists College budget office with the coordination of procurements on behalf of the department according to procurement service guidelines. Maintains accurate receipts for all purchases made for the department via P-card and Buyways.
Education - High School or Equivalent - work exp that is directly related to the area of employment -bachelors degree may be substituted for experience.
