The Utica Comets are welcoming applications to fill a Gameday Social Media Internship position for the 2024-25 season.Internship Term:October 2024 - April 2025, with an option to extend through June 2025 for playoffsLocation:Utica, NYFormat:On-SiteExpected Time Commitment:10 - 15 hours/weekSupervised by the Social Media & Digital Content Manager, this role supports the social media efforts of the Utica Comets on home gamedays at the Adirondack Bank Center. This internship offers opportunities to gain hands-on experience and transferable skills that are beneficial to those seeking a profession in social & digital media.This is an unpaid internship. Participants may qualify for academic credit if allowed by their college or university.RESPONSIBILITIESSupport the execution of the Utica Comets gameday social media plan.Capture and edit live content related to in-game action, practices, and additional game-specific activities as needed.Prepare and distribute content across the Comets' social media platforms with strong editorial judgement on copy. Manage social media inboxes and replies to content.Assist in the logging of content via Dropbox.Conduct marketing research and monitor engagement of posted content to ensure optimal performance.Actively contribute to the social media team by reporting on industry trends and presenting ideas for innovative and engaging content.QUALIFICATION STANDARDSA digital native who's passionate about elevating the fan experience on social media.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with strong editorial judgement.Possess strong knowledge of social media platforms and current trends.An understanding of social media and ice hockey is required. Prior knowledge of the Utica Comets is preferred.An ability to write copy with wit, humor, and can digitally connect with a fanbase.Can adapt to changing game situations and can complete projects under tight deadlines.Can maintain a high level of professionalism within a professional sports environment.Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro is preferred, but not required.Proficiency with camera equipment and how it operates is preferred. Proficiency with Cannon camera equipment is highly preferred.Must have a flexible schedule to allow commitment to a majority of Utica Comets home games during the 2024-25 season. Interested applicants must be willing and able to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings during peak times of the year.Must reside within one (1) hour of the Adirondack Bank Center.Must have reliable transportation to travel to and from the Adirondack Bank Center.
