SUMMARYIn this role, the Database Administrator (DBA) will provide Tier III Database Administration support to the client’s enterprise network. The DBA is responsible for the configuration of all databases to include Microsoft SQL databases, throughout the Clients application servers. The DBA shall configure SSL access and logging on the devices. The environment is currently supported by VMWare.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Maintain the overall health of technologies associated with Database Infrastructure.
· Resolve all DBA incident tickets escalated from the Triage Desk including the administrative activities and provide a weekly and monthly Database Status Report.
· Provide documentation, guidance and instruction to the Triage Desk for the handling of standard network infrastructure related incidents and service requests.
· Submit and execute network related change request tasks.
· Coordinate incident tickets between Tier II and III sections as well as other sections as required.
· Monitor the health of Database Infrastructure with Client provided event management tools.
· Provide Client project support for Database Infrastructure related technologies.
· Coordinate with other Client Sections on DBA issues.
· Support change management process; submit requests through Change Approval Board; participate in a Change Review Board.
· Escalate product-related DBA issues to third party product vendors.
· Implement monitoring tool thresholds and conduct proactive event remediation.
· Provide analysis and remediation for DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) for all responsible technologies.
· Ability to create, utilize, and maintain SQL Queries and PowerShell scripts for monitoring and maintenance.
· Provide DBA Documentation to Tier I organizations on the procedures for completing the task.
· Ability to provide system administration on all SQL Servers, familiar with SQL installations, patching and upgrades.
· Maintain the overall health of technologies associated with Database Infrastructure.
· Follow all ITIL v 3.0 (and later versions) processes as they are applied to the Client.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Certifications
· IAT III certification (CASP+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, GCIH, GCED, CCSP, or CISSP (or Associate)
· Professional series Certification within the product groups technology scope (e.g. MCSE (SQL))
Education, Background, and Years of Experience
· A minimum of 7 years supporting Microsoft Database technology
ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills
· SQL 2019 or greater
· Technical skills creating and maintaining PowerBI dashboards
· Windows Server 2019 or greater
· Creating and administering Failover Clusters
· Creating and administering AlwaysOn Availability Groups
· Basic knowledge of PowerShell and CMD scripting languages
· Basic knowledge using and maintaining objects in Active Directory
· Well suited for working in a team environment with good communication skills
Preferred Skills
· Familiarization with BMC’s Remedy
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions
· Contractor site with 0%-10% travel possible. Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
Strength Demands
· Sedentary – 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles. Some occasional walking or standing may be required. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
