Candidate must successfully receive a Public Trust clearance. Onsite support is required in Washington, DC. 1x per week (Wednesdays. Additional days onsite may be required at customer direction.


SUMMARY:

The Mid Security Operations Center (SOC) Engineer will support a government agency in the achievement of strategic goals and objectives related to the ongoing execution and maturity of its cybersecurity and security operations center programs.

Agile Defense is currently seeking a talented Mid SOC Engineer to support an Agency-level enterprise cyber program. To support this vital mission, Agile Defense employees are on the forefront of providing Advanced CND Operations, and Security Engineering support to include the development of advanced analytics and countermeasures to protect critical assets from hostile adversaries. To support the integrity, security, and resiliency of critical operations, we are seeking candidates with diverse backgrounds in security engineering and systems administration. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of complexities related to cloud security, Operations and Maintenance (O&M), cloud brokering, and cloud infrastructure implementation from a security perspective.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Possesses in-depth knowledge of information security, cloud security, systems engineering, big data, or the various sciences related to enterprise technology.

· Possesses in-depth knowledge in information security, cloud security, systems engineering, big data, or the various sciences related to enterprise technology.

· Participate in the improvement of agency's overall security posture and mission capabilities with the adoption of cloud computing technologies.

· The Contractor shall actively participate in discussions to coordinate and align mission/business objectives and cloud technological capabilities to allow continued technology modernization within the agency.

· Participates as needed in all phases of systems security engineering with emphasis on the planning, analysis, security, testing, integration, documentation, and presentation phases.

· Provide support to understand and develop system requirements and technical solutions for cybersecurity engineering based on system architectures.

· Support the maturation of agency's enterprise architecture to align with the Commission's information security and risks to the organizational operations, organizational assets, and individuals.

· Develop alternatives of system designs and/or architectures which consider trade-offs between security requirements, functional/operational requirements and cost

· Identify and define the requirements of the overall security of the network.

· Plan, engineer, and monitor overall security implementation of network systems.

· Support in configuring and implementing network security tools.

· Test and provide solutions for system weaknesses, threats, security issues

· Research and identify latest suitable technologies and processes that will improve the overall security of the system.

· Regularly audit the existing network configuration and provide improvement recommendations.


SUPERVISORY DUTIES

· This is a non-supervisory position


QUALIFICATIONS 

Education, Background, and Years of Experience

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field.

· 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering.


ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills

· 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering.

· Bachelor’s Degree required (Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field).

· Microsoft Azure - Strong Cloud security background particularly with Microsoft Defender suite and Sentinel experience.

· 2-4 years of experience in cloud environments focused on security.

· 2-4 years of experience in security engineering.


Preferred Skills

· Experience writing KQL queries in Microsoft Sentinel

· Preparing cloud cost analysis and presenting to clients

· Microsoft Logic App / SOAR automation

· Motivation and desire to learn advanced concepts in cyber and ability to work within a formal engineering life cycle.

· Strong attention to detail in working with other project staff in managing complex changes to US-CERTs environment.

· Experienced with monitoring of new or emerging security technologies to assist in identification of most effective approach or methodology to be applied in securing D/A infrastructures.

· Relevant Security Certifications: Security+, CySA+, CISSP, IC2 CC, Microsoft AZ-500, MS-500, SC-200, AZ-900,


WORKING CONDITIONS

Environmental Conditions

· Contractor site with 0%-10% travel possible. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The onsite customer working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work at the customer location is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Strength Demands

· Sedentary – 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles. Some occasional walking or standing may be required. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
