Job Description

AHRC NYC is looking to hire Program Directors to help oversee their Manhattan and Bronx Day Programs.

Salary: $65,000 per year plus a very generous and comprehensive Benefit Package...see Benefit information below.

SCOPE OF POSITION

The Program Director is responsible for leadership in the provision of supports and services, with a primary focus on facilitating innovative program delivery and effective quality assurance in delivering person-centered services across several designated sites.  The Program Director collaborates with the Regional Director and peers to strengthen community-based resources, increase person-centered supports, and ensure sound fiscal performance. The Program Director supervises all program staff and is responsible for actively maintaining high quality activities and experiences for people, while maintaining overall program sustainability.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing People and Teams

  • Manages a diverse staff team and fosters an equitable, inclusive and positive work environment and culture.
  • Coaches and mentors staff, overseeing all aspects of staff development.
  • Participates in local recruitment through community outreach and marketing.
  • Communicates regularly with program personnel about critical topics that impact the program’s ability to operate effectively and efficiently. 

Quality Supports & Services

  • Manages implementation of innovative and flexible supports and services.
  • Assigns/delegates and supervises relevant staff in addressing incident management, potentially dangerous situations, staffing patterns, and staff development issues; intervenes as necessary.
  • Ensures adequate protection of each individual’s health, safety, comfort, well-being and civil, human, and legal rights, as outlined in State regulations and the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights.
  • Proactively identifies and communicates quality, budgetary, safety, and compliance-related concerns to the Regional Director and the ADS Leadership team.
  • Develops and implements processes that ensure integration of stakeholder feedback into program planning.
  • Communicates regularly with family members/guardians/advocates, as needed.

Strategic Program Development

  • Organizes and manages details, adherence to timetables, and allocation of resources to actualize initiatives in alignment with regional and departmental priorities.
  • Collaborates with regional team to address learning and development needs.
  • Provides guidance to Community Support Supervisors by reducing complexity and focusing on incremental results toward long-term goals and vision for the program and the region.

Resource Management

  • Implements systems and protocols based on team members’ strengths, to ensure resource efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Works with operations director and regional team to implement systemic changes to produce efficiencies.
  • Monitors budget performance and assumes responsibility for intakes, enrollments, and attendance.

Community Outreach

  • Develops and maintains positive community relationships and represents the agency as participating member of various industry committees, task forces or advocacy groups. 

Communicates/builds relationships with community partners, key stakeholders, and volunteers

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a related field or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with two years relevant experience or an Associates degree with five years of relevant experience.
  • A track record of supervising and developing staff to achieve tangible professional outcomes.
  • Knowledge of Person-Centered planning, and knowledge of all applicable regulations, needed.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with family members, program staff and external professional staff, as demonstrated excellence in listening and writing skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a high autonomy/high accountability environment.
  • Must have solid organizational, multi-tasking and delegation skills, as well as ability to initiate and follow through independently on a variety of program issues. 
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions, show sound judgment in setting of priorities, address potential operational issues, and handle and/or diffuse time-sensitive and/or stressful situations.
