ConocoPhillips is Alaska’s largest crude oil producer and largest owner of exploration leases, with approximately 1.2 million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2022. The company produced an average of 200 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2022. ConocoPhillips has major ownership interests in two of North America’s largest legacy conventional oil fields, both located on Alaska’s North Slope: Kuparuk, which the company operates, and Prudhoe Bay. Additionally, ConocoPhillips operates several fields on the Western North Slope. The company has an ownership interest in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet.
Description
If you are selected as the Advisor of Communications, you will have a proven track record of understanding and translating complex and high-volume material into compelling internal and external communications. You will be able to counsel and influence senior leaders on a wide range of industry subject matters. You will need to have the ability to write and edit speeches, press releases, media Q&As, as well as internal employee memos/publications to effectively communicate the company’s strategy.
This is a communications position that will operate at various levels within the company and therefore requires the requisite business skills needed to be credible with leadership teams. In addition to functional expertise in critical communications, public relations and outstanding writing skills, the senior advisor must be able to write content to influence a variety of stakeholders: employees, industry peers and leaders, digital and traditional media, and community members. Strong awareness of Alaska business, industry, and economic issues is required.
Reporting to the Director, Media & Advertising, you will work closely with colleagues within the Alaska External Affairs department and collaborate across the Alaska business (operations, exploration, finance, strategy, health/safety/environment) to produce numerous communication materials. You will also work with corporate headquarter communicators from Business Communications, Media Relations & Crisis Communications, Government Affairs/Public Policy/Sustainable Development Communications, Investor Relations, Digital & Social Media and Employee Communications, to ensure consistent voice and messaging.
