Job Summary:
The IT Support Technician will play a crucial role in managing the day-to-day IT needs of Alexander Valley Health Center, a small Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This role requires strong coordination skills, as the IT Support Technician will interface with an external contracting agency for IT resources and support. The position offers growth potential, with the ideal candidate developing into an IT Manager or higher.
Key Responsibilities:
Vendor Management: Serve as the primary point of contact between the organization and external IT contractors, ensuring the timely delivery of IT services and resolving technical issues efficiently.
System Maintenance: Oversee the regular maintenance of IT systems, ensuring optimal performance of computers, servers, and networks, with support from contracted IT resources.
Troubleshooting: Coordinate the troubleshooting of hardware and software issues for internal staff, escalating to the external IT team when necessary.
IT Infrastructure Management: Collaborate with external contractors to ensure secure, scalable, and stable IT infrastructure, including network and data security.
IT Documentation: Maintain up-to-date IT documentation, including system configurations, vendor agreements, and IT policies.
Training and Support: Provide basic IT training and support to staff, ensuring they can effectively use the organization’s technology and systems.
Future Development: Identify opportunities for improving IT processes and systems in coordination with the external IT team and propose long-term IT strategies that align with the organization’s goals.
Compliance and Security: Ensure the organization’s IT systems comply with relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and other federal/state data security guidelines.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Any combination of certifications of equivalent work experience will be considered.
Experience:
2+ years of experience in IT coordination or related roles.
Experience working with external IT vendors or contractors is preferred.
Skills:
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Basic knowledge of healthcare IT systems and security protocols (e.g., HIPAA).
Proficiency with common office software and basic network troubleshooting.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into non-technical language for staff.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a healthcare or FQHC environment.
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar.
Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
