POSITION TITLE: Analyst - Financial Planning & AnalysisREPORTS TO: Sr. Analyst – Financial Planning & AnalysisPOSITION SUMMARY:Owns relevant reporting, including data collection and insightful analysis of results. Partners across the organization to develop and measure against monthly budgets and forecasts. Provides insightful financial analytics to support key business initiatives and decisions.RESPONSIBILITIES:• Collaborates with key stakeholders across functions, channels, and geographies to develop accurate budgets/forecasts, facilitate process improvements and provide analytical support• Prepares financial analysis for Senior Management including explanations of variances to forecast, plan, and prior periods and other ad hoc analysis as requested• Provides analytical support to Financial Accounting during month end close; responsibilities include reconciliation of actuals to forecast, abnormal transaction research, journal entry preparation and explanation of variances• Supports internal and external reporting of financial results with relevant information, explanations and insight• Maintains a high level awareness of relevant business conditions, trends, etc. to provide the best possible insights• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams• Utilizes technology and systems to populate models, presentations, and streamline workload with focus on simplification and automation of processes• Maintains the highest level of accuracy and error-proofing in own work• Supports preparation of key deliverables including presentations, white papers, standard reports, and ad-hoc requests• Participates in ad hoc business analysis projects as necessaryOther responsibilities and projects as assigned• QUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field• 2+ years relevant business experience or an equivalent combination of education/experience (MBA/Master's Degree)• Strong knowledge of retail industry preferred• Experience with Oracle, Hyperion, Essbase, Cognos, Tableau and/or Lawson software a plus• High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications including expert knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint• Superior analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills balanced with strong execution skills• Strong verbal and written communication skills• Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment• Demonstrated proactive approach with desire to continually increase knowledge and responsibilities• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize assignments, and adapt to a changing, fast paced environmentSelf-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines• PAY/BENEFITS INFORMATION:• Actual starting pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to relevant experience and location.• Subject to eligibility requirements, associates may receive health care benefits (including medical, vision, and dental); wellness benefits; 401(k) retirement benefits; life and disability insurance; employee stock purchase program; paid time off; paid sick leave; and parental leave and benefits.Paid Time Off, paid sick leave, and holiday pay vary by job level and type, job location, employment classification (part-time or full-time / exempt or non-exempt), and years of service.• AEO may also provide discretionary bonuses and other incentives at its discretion.• #LI-MD1American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE: AEO) is a portfolio of unique, loved and enduring brands with merchandise assortments that consist of high-quality, on-trend apparel, intimates, activewear, accessories, and personal care products.AEO operates stores in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Hong Kong, and ships to approximately 80 countries worldwide through its websites.
