The Customer Domain Engineering Team brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities that support customer experiences throughout the enterprise. We are seeking an innovative Program Manager with an enthusiastic, impactful strategic & technology mind-set to work well with the team developing Customer Domain focus technology & solutions. We wish to drive engagement and loyalty within our existing cardmember base and attract new customers to the AMEX brand. This role will collaborate with technology teams to ensure the quality delivery of applications and Infrastructure components; and adoption of the point of arrival solutions while driving platform simplification across the domain. The role will collaborate closely with business partners, Project Managers, Engineers, Architects and Leadership, to communicate and manage stakeholders as well as ensure completeness and efficiency of solutions while ensuring alignment to standards.


How will you make an impact in this role? Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Drives integrated teams, driving technology solutions in support of key product initiatives by working closely with product owners, architects, engineers, and quality assurance
  • Engages with technology &  business stakeholders, understand their needs and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Coordinates execution of development projects from initiation through release, applying SDLC methodologies and using Agile/Scrum concepts.
  • Works within and across business units to prioritize, plan, and implement the development schedule for major product releases
  • Embraces SDLC methods, Agile values, principles, and practices. Maintain dependency plan between planned sprints; organize and facilitate daily stand-ups and retrospectives at the end of each sprint.
  • Manages and tracks team velocity, financials, and other critical metrics in relation to the plan and published progress reports
  • Efficiency and management of the Customer Domain Engineering leadership team
  • Stakeholder management via forms of documented strategy
  • Create impactful executive-level presentations by identifying, gathering, synthesizing, and assessing an assortment of data for audiences at all levels; emphasis on storytelling to craft effective and impactful presentations
  • Make recommendations and share insights with the leadership team on meaningful business decisions, ensuring that business decisions are effectively communicated and implemented across different markets
  • Build both relationships and partnerships across the team and the Enterprise.
  • Assigns development resources to activities and monitors performance across resource channels
  • Oversight of vendor partners that will assist in maintenance of dependency plan between planned sprints across engineering, infrastructure, and third-parties
  • Manages and appropriately brings up delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes tied to the product development initiatives
  • Ensures deliverables across engineering teams are high quality and clearly documented.
  • Conducts stand-ups and retrospectives, and ensures that the team is continuously learning from the past
  • Finds opportunities to adopt innovative technologies


Minimum Qualifications


  • 4+ years of technical project management experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience, is preferred
  • Critical thinking with the confidence and composure to effectively connect with leadership.
  • Outstanding leadership and relationship building ability.
  • Effectively influence without authority across peers and leaders.
  • Drive projects and operate well under ambiguity.
  • Outstanding organization and planning skills.
  • Passion, energy, personal accountability, and a desire to learn and grow as a leader.
  • High level of integrity when handing confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly with a willingness to continuously improve.
  • Active listening skills, summarization skills and lateral thinking to uncover and react to emerging opportunities.
  • Experience managing Agile, Scrum, or other rapid application development teams to deliver technology solutions on that meet customer expectations for timeliness and quality
  • Experience managing project budgets and reporting while ensuring compliance with Rally and Agile delivery platform
  • Excellent oral and written interpersonal skills; Ability to effectively communicate across third parties and technical and business product managers
  • Ability to get industry leading solutions to market efficiently and effectively

  • Experience with object-oriented design, coding skills, SOA concepts, data management is a plus
  • Experience with financial services technology and industry is a plus


Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits


The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
