What makes an AFF Instructional Designer:
The Instructional Designer provides course design support to create effective and engaging learning environments informed by desired learning outcomes. The role involves consulting Subject Matter Experts from diverse disciplines to identify course goals and applicable evidence-based instructional strategies. An area of focus will be the integration of innovative online and technology-enhanced course components to enhance learning across different delivery modes. The Instructional Designer will also provide pedagogical training to training team members and leadership through workshops, webinars, video tutorials, etc., regarding topics related to virtual teaching, the GPS LMS, course design, and integration of instructional technology.

Essential Job Duties:
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SME) and partners to analyze learning needs, define learning objectives, and develop instructional content that meets identified learning goals.
- Craft and develop instructional materials, including e-learning modules, instructor-led-training (ILT) materials, job aids, and assessments, using instructional design principles and industry standard methodologies.
- Use e-learning authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar tools to build interactive and engaging e-learning modules that incorporate multimedia, simulations, and assessments.
- Adapt instructional materials for different delivery modes, such as classroom training, virtual classrooms, and blended learning, to ensure effective delivery across various platforms and environments.
- Review and revise existing training materials to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with learning objectives and instructional design principles.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on instructional content to ensure functionality, interactivity, and usability.
- Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in instructional design and adult learning theory to improve instructional materials and delivery methods continuously.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including trainers, multimedia developers, and Subject Matter Experts, to ensure the timely delivery of instructional material and successful implementation of training programs.
- Provide guidance and support to trainers and facilitators in delivering instructional content effectively, including providing training on instructional materials and delivery techniques.
- Conduct formative and summative evaluations of instructional materials and programs to assess effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience as an instructional designer or in a similar role, preferably in a corporate or organizational setting
- Strong understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and e-learning technologies
- Proficiency in multimedia development tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia, or similar tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with subject matter experts, trainers, and collaborators at all levels
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in crafting and developing instructional content
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and ability to create inclusive and accessible instructional materials for diverse audiences
