Manager, Human Resources

Position Summary:

AHLA is seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to support key HR functions, including employee relations, compensation, benefits administration, professional development, performance management, onboarding / offboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, and employment law compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong HR foundation, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to enhance employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with HR initiatives aligned with business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Support recruitment efforts, including workforce planning, employer branding, and hiring best practices.
  • Oversee and refine onboarding programs to enhance new hire experience and retention.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of learning & development programs, including leadership development initiatives.
  • Provide support on employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and performance management to foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Utilize HR metrics to assess program effectiveness and support recommendations.
  • Support compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness and compliance.
  • Contribute to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and employee engagement strategies.
  • Maintain and update HR policies in alignment with industry best practices and legal requirements.
  • Respond to HR inquiries, troubleshoot employee concerns, and serve as a resource to staff and leadership.
  • Organize and maintain HR files and documentation in compliance with record-keeping regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • At least four (4) to five (5) years of HR experience, preferably in a trade association, hospitality, or related industry.
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now and HRIS systems required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and HR analytics tools.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven ability to handle employee relations matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and their application in workplace policies and practices.
  • Experience using HR metrics and analytics to support decision-making.
  • Ability to manage multiple HR projects simultaneously with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present HR policies and initiatives effectively to employees and leadership.
  • Detail-oriented individual with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and act with integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and proactively address challenges.

  • Minimal travel is required.
