BI Analyst Intern (Remote Opportunity)

The American Marketing Association is looking for a BI Developer Intern for the Summer of 2024!

What to know about this role

  • This is an eight (8) week, full time internship from Monday, June 10th, 2024 to Friday, August 2nd, 2024. 
  • The hourly rate for this position is: $18.00 per hour
  • We are a fully remote organization with team members across the country. Work from the comfort of your home, a local coffee shop or wherever in the U.S. brings you joy! Please note that you MUST live in one of the following states in order be considered for this temporary role:
    • Alabama, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin

What you’ll be doing 

  • Analyze data from a variety of sources within our central data platform AWS. Develop your skills in exploratory data analysis, data visualization, data modeling, as well as participate in a Data Governance program from scratch
  • Evaluate internal systems for efficiency, problems, and inaccuracies, and develop and maintain protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data
  • Work directly with managers and users to gather requirements and provide status updates.
  • Evaluate organizational methods and provide source-to-target mappings and information-model specification documents for datasets
  • Create and maintain rich interactive visualizations through data interpretation and analysis, with reporting components from multiple data sources

What you bring to the table

  • Previous data analytics coursework or completed bootcamp
  • Familiarity or experience with a relational SQL database 
  • Experience using data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, and Sigma (we use Sigma here!)
  • General understanding of data warehousing concepts such as star schemas, facts and dimensions, cardinality, and granularity.
  • General understanding with the following technologies is helpful but not required: dbt, PostgreSQL, GitHub, Azure, Snowflake

What to expect from the interview process

  • Hiring Manager resume review
  • One way video interview on Spark Hire (We promise this isn’t scary! Our questions are well thought out and we wanted your answers to be as well. So you have unlimited think time for each of the five questions we ask!) that will take 15-20 minutes.
  • 30-minute phone interview with a member of AMA’s People and Culture team 
  • Virtual On-Site Interview with the hiring manager and the role’s mentor that you’ll be working closely with.
