Posting DetailsPosition InformationPosition TitleProgram CoordinatorDepartmentEducation (Prfsnl Dvlpmt - 054Position SummaryThe American Museum of Natural History is one of the world’s preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education and exhibition.The Education department’s Gottesman Center is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator. The Coordinator works with other Coordinators, Educators and the Director and Assistant Director of Professional Learning from the Gottesman Center. Gottesman Center programs include teacher professional learning, school visits (including facilitated visits) and residency classes. Gottesman educational programming occurs onsite.Ideal candidates are self-motivated, focused on details, highly organized and skilled at balancing priorities and operating with flexibility. Additionally, candidates should be able to learn and use technologies and software that support organization, data tracking and educational projects. The ability to learn science/social studies content is similarly important, as the Program Coordinator will use this knowledge to more substantively engage with both internal and external collaborators.Job duties include:• Organize and support the day-to-day activities of the Teaching Volunteers in Museum halls and classrooms, including the use of of mobile carts and objects. Assist with purchasing and coordinating supplies. Supervise shift and training sign-up. Organize the Learning Management System. Assist in the design of online marketing materials to recruit a diverse group of volunteers and with onboarding. Track and report statistics related to the program.• Act as a liaison between different departments at the Museum to facilitate effective communication and resource allocation.• Coordinate and provide support for community outreach initiatives, including communication with CBOs representing a broad range of communities.• Research and attend mission-related community fairs/events.• Coordinate logistics of community programming, including scheduling, catering arrangements, etc. Collect, track and input program and event data.• Assist with special events for school groups.The expected salary range for the Program Coordinator is $50,000/annual – $57,000/annual. This position is overtime-eligible and the AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.Required Qualifications• 2 years experience performing similar administrative/program coordinator job duties as those described above.• High School Diploma or equivalent.• Demonstrated proficiency with technology tools (i.e., word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, file management).Preferred Qualifications• Spanish fluency (written/oral).• Experience working in a museum.• Experience with community engagement work.• Experience with data management and reporting.• Excellent communication and writing skills.Physical Demands• Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.• Must be able to move about the Museum campus.CategoryFull-Time/TermTotal Number of Scheduled Hours Per Pay Period70Union StatusUnionFLSANon-ExemptExpected Salary Minimum$50,000/annualExpected Salary Maximum$57,000/annual
