Description

American Plastics, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative plastic-injection molded products for the household & garage storage and commercial cleaning end-markets. We are searching for a Buyer-Production Scheduler for our Jefferson City, MO location.  This position will report to the Plant Manager. 


This position will manage the overall Materials Requirement Process (MRP) for the Jefferson City American Plastics site for the business units, ensuring that the full plan is optimized. Opportunities need to be taken to consolidate the plans and optimize them wherever possible. Perfect service (on-time and in-full) of materials arriving in the factory is the key objective of this role with a short and a long-term view. This position will ensure adequate management of the manufacturing scheduling process and the procurement of Raw and Packaging materials, to guarantee the responsiveness of the network. 


Responsibilities

• Buyer and plant scheduler.

• Support PO Buyer and Cyclical Counter

• Revamp MRP processes to provide clear communication to all team members, on long and short material needs to ensure there are no service risks.

• Identify and measure KPIs for Material and Production Schedule Accuracy.

• Ensure the system compliance: correct lead times in system for all RM/PM

• Responsible for delivering material and productivity savings commitment as well as maintaining material write-offs avoidance.

• Identify and Manage inventory targets at factory / category level for both raw and finished goods. Strive to reduce inventory and waste while improving service. Maintain and utilize inventory models to achieve continuous improvement.

• Ensure the right balance between FG and RM/PM are managed when it comes to lead times and stock level calculations.

• Develop and maintain the necessary record of purchase, price, stock and consumption, supplier/vendor, specifications, and catalog files.

• Communicate and ensure all relative information for new and reduced SKUs are appropriately updated in software tools as well as in standard routines.

• Coordinate communication across the factory and planning teams.

• Managing the relationship with 3rd party partners.

• Manage material escalations and communicate with suppliers.

• Translates Company business strategy into operational goals with visible metrics.

• Be a “change leader”, implement standard best practices and adopt new tools.

• Apply World Class Manufacturing principles to identify major loss areas and facilitate process improvement.

Requirements


• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, procurement, or related fields

• 5 years in Materials Planning or relevant experience, manufacturing experience preferred but not required.

• Fundamental knowledge of MRP systems

• Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.  Be able to interact effectively with all levels including other AP sites, Supply Chain Planning, and manufacturing personnel. 

• Motivate, energize, and foster team activities and relationships. 

• Ability to resolve conflict.

• Utilize computer software to communicate, analyze, and document planning activities and develop KPI Reports utilizing Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

• Familiar with ERP systems (Trans4M a plus)
