Sr Scientist - Protein Chemistry

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. Amgen is seeking an innovative Senior Scientist to join the Protein Therapeutics (PT) – Protein Chemistry team. PT is a multidisciplinary team with broad capabilities in protein engineering, expression, purification, and characterization. We are responsible for the engineering, production, assessment, and final selection of large molecule drug candidates that advance to Process Development In this vital role you will support the purification and analysis of large molecule, therapeutic drug candidates, many of which are complex biologics. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Advancing our pipeline by purifying and characterizing novel and complex molecules that will be the next generation of large molecule therapeutics.

  • Developing novel, cutting-edge solutions to advance our purification, analytics, and molecular assessment capabilities.

  • Applying statistical and predictive data analytics to assess large molecule drug candidates.

  • Partnering with project, Data Science, Analytics and Automation teams to drive innovation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree (PhD) and relevant scientific experience.

Or

  • Master’s degree and 3 years of relevant scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline.

  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, ability to multi-task and work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Demonstrated expertise in protein purification, characterization, analytical techniques; Familiarity with cloning, protein engineering and mammalian protein expression is a plus.

  • Broad experience with bioanalytical assay development, execution, and analysis.

  • Familiarity with Data Science fundamentals.

  • Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by a strong publication and or patent record.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
