Analytics Solutions Engineer | Remote Opportunity

General Summary:

Employers has embarked on a plan to drive more data-based decision making across the enterprise. A key component of this strategy is the enablement and development of modern analytics capabilities in each major function: Underwriting, Claims, Marketing and Sales, Premium Audit, and others. The Analytics Solutions Engineer serves a key role in the development, maintenance, support and training of enterprise analytics systems (e.g., SAS, R, Cognos, Tableau, etc.). He or she leverages the latest technologies and industry best practices to enable data scientists, IT and business partners to solve business problems and achieve strategic goals. #LI-Remote HP22

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical contact to business users, IT and external vendor support contacts for all analytics systems
  • Maintain and support all analytics systems, including monitoring, software version control and coordinating OS/security patching with IT
  • Support proof-of-concept initiatives for data analytics with the creation and support of temporary sandboxes, datasets, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise standards and policies
  • Evaluate new tools and techniques for continual improvement of enterprise analytics
  • Evaluate integration designs to ensure effective and efficient performance
  • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of analytics systems and best practices
  • Perform an active role in cross-departmental projects when needed
  • Other duties as assigned or as situation dictates

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience
  • 2 to 4 years of work experience in with development and support of analytics/reporting systems
  • Experience using PL/SQL and T-SQL
  • Experience with advanced reporting/analytics concepts (e.g. dashboards, OLAP cubes etc.)
  • Experience with analytics systems (e.g. SAS, R, Cognos, Tableau, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of data warehouse concepts, including Entity Relationship modeling, dimensional modeling, use of surrogate keys and various indexing paradigms
  • Experience translating business requirements into integration requirements
  • Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows and Unix
  • Working knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • Experience working with cloud-based solutions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Customer service oriented; good collaboration skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Superior time management skills, able to multi-task and focus on multiple priorities
  • Ability to learn on the fly and grasp new concepts quickly

PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED

  • MBA or advanced business degree
  • Insurance industry experience
  • Proficiency in SAS, R or similar tools/languages
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the requirements listed above.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • This job operates in a remote professional office environment.
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some mobility is required.
  • May work early, late, or occasional weekend hours to accommodate business needs.
  • Occasional lifting of a maximum of 30lbs.
  • Minimal travel to other office locations/meeting locations occasionally necessary.
