Analytics Specialist (Temporary)

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking an Analytics Specialist for a temporary role with possibility of conversion to full-time, in the Client Value & Practice Management department, reporting to the Director of Client Value Analytics (the “Director”).

The role will reside in the Washington, DC office with hybrid work capabilities and will help communicate, implement, and advance the firm’s Analytics and Intelligence offerings. The primary responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to: (i) assisting with the gathering, analyzing and communication of data to conduct analytic analysis and synthesized intelligence to help inform business leaders and support management decisions; (ii) supporting the Director in measuring performance in accordance with defined financial and business performance objectives; and (iii) collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development and implementation of data-driven solutions and strategies that drive business growth and improve operational efficiency.

The Specialist will work closely with the Director and other stakeholders to identify business needs and develop analytical frameworks and methodologies to address them. This will involve leveraging data from various sources, including internal databases, market research, and external data providers, to extract insights and trends that can guide decision-making. The Specialist is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and staff,

Key responsibilities of this position include:

• Become familiar with firm business/financial acumen and evaluate key drivers.
• Help implement analytics solutions to meet firm's business needs and practice-specific requirements.
• Develop scalable reports and utilize technology platforms for enhanced performance insights.
• Communicate data analysis and intelligence to stakeholders, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
• Proactively analyze and synthesize data for tailored products and revenue-generation initiatives.
• Support data analysis projects, providing impactful insights and visualizations to decision makers.
• Identify analytic needs within practice groups and suggest value-add opportunities.
• Support practice, department and firm efforts through data mining and analytics.
• Implement processes, dashboards, and tools to drive user adoption and optimize financial intelligence.
• Maintain knowledge of data automation tools, track information, and assist with software implementation.
• Assist with attorney training on financial dashboards and collaborate on special projects as assigned.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

• BA or BS required
• One to three years in client service-oriented functions, preferably with financial analyst background.
• High proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and ability to quickly learn new software.
• Experience in data-driven and financial analytics.
• Understanding of financial management, strategic thinking, and analytical skills.
• General knowledge of industry business practices and ability to handle confidential information.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills in oral, written, and visual presentations.
• Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work across all firm departments.
• Proven organizational skills and ability to execute initiatives promptly.
• Experience with Power BI and/or Alteryx is a plus.
