As the Lead for Brokerage and Trading Compliance, you will lead the compliance program for the trading and prime brokerage business and help support new business activity across multiple regulated entities. You will work closely with various business units - Trading Solutions, Sales, Settlements, Operations, Client Experience, Legal, Product, and Engineering to ensure Anchorage Digital’s products and services are compliant with applicable regulations. You will help define the long-term strategy for Trading Compliance. You are a leader in analyzing and deciding on interesting and challenging topics in the evolving digital asset space. You not only understand the “why” and the “bigger picture” but also meaningfully contribute to prioritizing the work within the team. 


We have created the Factors of Growth & Impact to help Villagers better measure impact and articulate coaching, feedback, and the rich and rewarding learning that happens while exploring, developing, and mastering the capabilities and contributions within and outside the Lead, Trading & Brokerage Compliance role:


Technical Skills:
  • Brings strong subject expertise in trading and prime brokerage compliance, including CFTC and swaps, evolving cryptocurrency regulations, and brokerage operations. And experience in building programs that comply with regulations.
  • Internally recognized as an influential leader and a reference in Anchorage Digital, and is involved in the development of Anchorage’s strategic direction in trading and brokerage.
  • Has knowledge and ability to lead discussions with regulators such as FINRA, SEC, CFTC, FinCEN, DFPI and U.S. financial market regulators and agencies.
  • Applies regulatory knowledge to business practices and can build out a compliance framework around evolving regulatory guidance in the crypto space.


Complexity and Impact of Work:
  • Designs, develops, and implements strategic compliance programs and controls across multiple Anchorage entities and businesses.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead and function effectively in a rapidly changing business and uncertain regulatory environment.


Organizational Knowledge:
  • Plays a leading role in groups/forums that define the long-term trading and brokerage compliance strategy and value proposition of Anchorage.
  • Ensures alignment and integration between initiatives, priorities, people, processes, and structures in trading and brokerage compliance, cross-departments, and with the broader strategic priorities of Anchorage Digital.


Communication and Influence:
  • Presents trading compliance reports to senior management, boards, and external stakeholders such as regulators and licensing authorities. Handles strategic communication issues for Anchorage Digital in high-profile situations and difficult on-the-spot questions. Anticipates and builds on others’ reactions to keep momentum and support for an approach.
  • Able to perform attentive and active listening, to speak and empathize with others at all grades, adapting the speech to the audience, both internally and externally, applied to small or big audiences.
  • Engaging, easy to approach, and building appropriate rapport, with diplomacy and tact, and recognized as a technical leader whose knowledge, ideas, and critical thinking impact the strategic direction of Anchorage Digital.


You may be a fit for this role if you have:
  • You have crypto regulation experience.
  • You have securities, futures, and derivatives market experience with the ability to provide thought leadership.
  • You have experience building out trading and prime brokerage (including swaps) compliance programs and experience interfacing with regulators.
  • You have a Series 24 license.
  • You have experience working in a fast-paced environment and a focus on delivering results.
  • You have excellent verbal and communication skills.
