Job Description Summary:
Work involves manual, semi-skilled and skilled work in an animal educational and research unit. Work involves providing sanitary environmental conditions and caring for animals. Work may also include assisting a veterinarian, scientist or other animal professionals in procedures and activities involving animal health and disease; supervising or independently performing a wide range of complex technical procedures and assisting or coordinating work with a professional staff. Some positions may provide leadership or supervision over staff.

Required Qualifications:
Education: Must be 18 years of age with high school diploma or GED equivalency.

Work experience: Work experience with animals.

Conditions of Employment:
Ability to move 50 pounds with or without accommodation.

This is a weather essential position. The employee is expected to work at their assigned times and schedules regardless of weather conditions
Job Duties Outlined:
60% - Husbandry Duties: Conduct animal health observations. Complete animal care assignments according to standard operating procedures. Feed and waters animals. Receive and identifies animals using appropriate methods. Handle and restrains animals. Wean animals. Monitor environmental parameters. Record information on the cage cards and check sheets. Complete forms and sends email notifications to investigators. Submit cage orders.
30% - Janitorial Duties: Operates mechanical cleaning equipment. Maintains supply inventory and requests replacements as necessary. Disinfects animal rooms and support areas. Organizes and cleans storage areas. Follows established health and safety procedures. Follows facility security and traffic flow procedures.
10% - Perform other duties as assigned.
