Job summary

Here at Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC), we are inclusive and dedicated, working to provide excellent care to our entitled personnel.

We are looking for a friendly, well-organised and flexible AO Administrative Officer Receptionist to join our encouraging and welcoming team of dedicated military and civilian healthcare professionals and administrative staff working within the High Wycombe Medical Centre, Royal Air Force (RAF) High Wycombe.

The vacant post is a full-time position working 37 hours per week. Part-time candidates will be considered but due to service delivery requirements it must be on a job share basis as full-time hours need to be covered.

Job description

The successful post holder will work within the Medical Centre under the supervision of the Practice Manager/ Warrant Officer (WO) providing high quality administrative support in pursuit of the appropriate delivery of primary healthcare to Service personnel. The duties of the post include the timely preparation of notes and statistics for clinics and surgeries and the accurate administration of medical records.

Person specification

Main details of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining patient and staff confidentiality adhering to Caldicott Principles.
  • Ensuring all telephone calls are managed appropriately.
  • Actioning online email consultations assigning them to the relevant clinician.
  • Entering all incoming clinical correspondence, reports, and results onto Defence Medical Information Capability Programme (DMICP).
  • Participating, when required, in general reception duties including directing enquiries, filing, answering the telephone, mail distribution and booking appointments on DMICP.
  • Carrying out administrative duties such as photocopying, scanning and faxing.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including patience, tact and diplomacy are required.

Selection process details
