The Apprentice Electrician under the supervision of the Lead Electrician and Maintenance Supervisor provides electrical services, per district/local/State/Federal objectives and/or standards, with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs within his/her skillset and qualifications. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining and upgrading electrical systems and equipment. Responds to work requests timely and professionally and completes work assignments. This position may assist other Maintenance Mechanics in projects and ensures that tools and materials are available at the job site. The Apprentice Electrician may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary and approved by the Supervisor.

Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Completion of a vocational school curriculum designed to provide the required foundation to begin a career as an electrician.

Ability to prioritize workload
Ability to analyze blue prints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems
Ability to diagnose causes of electrical problems or failures for the purpose of identifying equipment and / or systems repairs
Has knowledge of electrical system components (e.g. lighting, alarms, electrical panels, switches, circuits, timers, etc.) for the purpose of providing enhance and/or upgraded electrical capabilities and for the purpose of ensuring a safe working condition
Keeps current with City / County regulations for compliance
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Required: Active Driver's License
Required: STI Fire Stop Certified within 1 year of hire (provided by Cox yearly if not already certified)
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Certification or Diploma from an accredited trade or vocational program focused in a technical field, preferably in the study of electronics; electric circuitry; or electrical power distribution
Preferred: Forklift operator
