This position is designated as ‘mandatory’ and, when contacted to report to work, the incumbent is expected to reach the campus as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to plan for and facilitate the ongoing operations of the Architecture Library. Reporting to the Patron Services Manager, this position will join the library’s Public Services team in providing outstanding customer service while working regular service desk hours at both the Architecture and Atkins libraries.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of high school and two years experience in office support, preferably as a library technician in a library, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university; or high school and four years of library experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Job Duties
- Manages daily operations of the Architecture library.
- Supervises student and non-student employees while communicating clearly and tactfully, and contributing to a positive work environment by regularly providing support, coaching, and feedback.
- Communicates promptly with the Patron Services Manager about issues with services, hours of operation, staffing shortages, faculty concerns, suggestions or comments, in relation to the Architecture Library.
- Transports materials between the Architecture and Atkins Libraries; oversees shelving, shelf reading, and shifting of materials in the Architecture Library.
- Works regular service desk hours at both the Architecture Library and Atkins Library.
- Maintains and updates the Architecture Library web pages on Atkins Library website.
- Maintains information on the Architecture Library webpage on the CoA+A website.
- Periodically assists with events hosted in the Architecture Library.
Other Work Responsibilities
Other duties as assigned.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
- Bachelor’s degree.
- General computer skills and the ability to troubleshoot computer, copier, scanner, and printer issues.
- One to three years of public or academic library circulation and customer service experience preferred.
- One to three years of supervisory experience is also preferred.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
