The Opportunity:
Directs the vision and strategic direction for the assigned service operations activities. Oversees the provision of field and/or technical services and support to customers. Develops strategic plans and ensures tactical implementation in the field. Oversees the development and management of expenses. May partner with Marketing and Sales areas to maximize field efforts and profitability.
Participates with other leaders to establish strategic plans and objectives. May develop corporate policies and authorize their implementation. Participates in development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people for the company. Has in-depth knowledge of the company, business strategies and functional area. Regularly interacts with executives both internal and external and/or major customers for the purpose of influencing and negotiating. Provides direction to subordinate managers and/or high level individual contributors and typically has responsibility for a broad functional area with multiple departments, product groups or service areas.
Responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality system and achieving quality objectives through daily actions.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Develops and implements strategies to achieve business goals (i.e. service sales volume, contract objectives). Analyzes market conditions and trends to build recommendations. Drives strong linkages with internal departments to develop short-term and long-term service strategies and tactics. Develops tactical implementation plans. Monitors field execution. Understands strategic goals of global organization, affiliates and other internal areas. Develops service operations strategies to support these goals.
Manages expense budgets/P&L to achieve financial goals. Reviews performance data related to inventory, revenue, production output/cost, and budget. Develops strategic planning for business improvements. Negotiates and plans approach to support Roche products to major suppliers.
Directs and oversees the human resource activities for assigned areas including: recruitment, training, development, career planning, retention and performance reviews. Provides continuous coaching, training, and counseling to direct reports. Ensures individual developmental plans are developed and implemented.
Drives continuous improvement of the service function. Ensures the quality policy is understood, implemented, and maintained in t he assigned departments. Ensures department(s) effectively satisfies regulatory requirement and the company’s quality policy and objectives. Develops and drives a work culture committed to compliance, quality, and customer focus.
Develops and maintains close business contacts with key internal and external leaders, influencers and decision makers.
Interacts with customers, affiliates/suppliers and in-house technical staff to provide information to ensure critical customer issues and/or product problems are resolved and to support product launches.
Who You Are:
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Information Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory, or related field
5 years of management experience in a service, technical support or clinical environment
3 years of budget management experience
Preferred Requirements:
Effective people leadership, negotiation, persuasion and motivation skills
Strong business management skills and a deep understanding of finances, inventory control, planning and process improvement
Effective problem solving, decision making, risk taking, initiative and adaptability
Very effective communication skills
Ability to build and sustain key business relationships
