What will you be doing?

 

Did you know the chemical industry is based on feedstocks derived from crude oil, natural gas, fats, and more?  Argus covers a broad portfolio of feedstock markets, including aromatics, methanol, olefins, polymers, and oleochemicals.

 

We are looking for a driven, passionate, and resourceful senior / market analyst to join our team and cover the chemicals markets.  The ideal candidate is innately curious and personable, able to quickly become a subject matter expert and lead coverage within the designated product portfolio.

 

You will write engaging market intelligence and analyse timely, accurate, objective, and meaningful prices for our clients.  This includes maintaining a strong network of contacts within the industries to source original, relevant and exclusive content.  You will be personable and be able to quickly become a subject matter expert and lead coverage within the designated product portfolio.  You will enjoy collaborative work with colleagues from various backgrounds, many of whom are in Argus’ other offices around the globe.  In addition, there are opportunities to travel, attend industry events, present at industry conferences and lead webinar sessions.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for market analysts, consultants, or brokers to transfer their skills and knowledge to advance their careers by joining a growing, global, independently owned organisation. 

 

  • Monitor and assess fast-moving markets to produce daily price assessments, market commentaries, analyses, and reports.
  • Establish strong relationships with key members of the industry and business leaders through meetings and daily communications to gain an in-depth understanding of your market.
  • Proactively generate pitch stories, contribute copy to the relevant publication and the online publication service, and contribute to unique content (blog posts, white papers, webinars, podcasts, etc.).
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the desk and other teams to enhance and drive coverage.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and industry events to build contacts and represent Argus.
  • Build your industry expertise and writing skills to provide readers with first-class market insights and analysis.

What we’re looking for in you

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, economics, business, or a relevant field.
  • Prior experience in the financial, energy, commodities or journalism sector is beneficial but not essential.
  • The ability to develop, verify and write industry-relevant content to deadline is preferred.
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for commodities, energy markets, global business, politics, and economics.
  • Experience delivering insightful market reports, and in-depth analytical articles is a bonus.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite with experience in Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build contacts with industry executives.

Travel

  • Cover conferences and events (5-10% of domestic/Asia travel is expected).

 

Hours

Monday through Friday, 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Earlier or later hours, or weekend hours, may be expected on occasion.
