Job Title: Finance Business Partner
Location: Liverpool, Cardiff or Farnborough (Hybrid)
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 (Dependent on level of experience)

About the role
We are looking for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join ARO.
The purpose of this role is to partner with 2 Business Units (circa £50m annual Revenue) and provide financial guidance over the budget, forecast and actual performance of the sector. To oversee the preparation of the month end accounts and be able to accurately present these results to the BU Director to enable them to present them to the Senior Leadership Team. You will be leading a team of 3 direct reports each looking after 1-2 departments within the BU.
Please note that this is a Hybrid role with onsite requirement 2 -3 days a week. You must be able to commute to the office and have your own transport.
What you'll do
- Management of the end-to-end monthly financial close process, preparation of both internal management reporting (actuals vs budget) and external shareholder and statutory reporting requirements, ensuring effective delivery against the Group defined timetable
- Regular support of the BU Director for monthly reporting requirements and ad hoc queries, as well as supporting the SLT of the BU to understand the BU performance.
- Ensure timely preparation of balance sheet reconciliations with for the monthly reviews covering the following, but not limited to, ensuring balances are complete, accurate and in line with expectations, understanding variances between actuals and budget and providing value-add insight to senior stakeholders to support effective decision-making
- Monthly oversight and review of general ledger reconciliations and accounting entries
- Directly manage a team of 3 Finance Accountants
- Provide guidance, goal setting, performance monitoring, weekly one-to-one meetings and coaching where required to maximize productivity, efficiency and team job satisfaction
- Ensure adequate focus on both personal and career development for both yourself and the team
- Support CFO with maintaining and developing best in class financial controls and internal audit processes
- Review and maintain accounting policies and procedures where required
- Support with managing the external audit requirements (interim and full year) for your BU
What we are looking for
Essential:
- Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA or CIMA or equivalent) with minimum 4 years PQE
- Experience in transaction processing and stakeholder reporting
- Experience with external audit planning and delivery and reporting under UK GAAP with IFRS awareness
- Experience in advanced analysis (including using Excel) to deal with understanding business problems and risks and the root causes thereof to enable developing solutions and mitigation.
- Comfortable working with senior stakeholders providing financial guidance as well as challenge
Desirable:
- Demonstrate a continuous improvement approach to work, including but not limited to, identifying areas for process improvements and implementing robust solutions.
- Sage 200 and Dynamics BI Reporting
- Experience working in a large company (+£200m)
