We offer medical, dental, and mental health services for all ages.LOCATION: Asian Resource CenterJOB SUMMARY:With supervision from the Contact Center Manager, answers eight-line telephone console, screens and routes telephone calls; takes telephone messages for providers and clinic staff; schedules cancel and reschedules patient appointments; assists triage nurse with the initial screening of telephone calls according to clinical protocols; provides backup support to Patient Services Representative and Medical Interpreter.Essential Job Functions• Answers telephone, greets patients, and updates patient information on the computer, as necessary• Screens new patients for clinic registration, explaining what information to bring to the registration visit• Provides patient information to the nursing staff for medication refills, including the patient’s name and financial status, name of the medication, and future appointment• Determines patient’s chief complaint and assists clinic staff in taking the information according to established protocol• Conducts telephone follow-up for broken appointments, abnormal labs, and referrals as requested by providers• Makes daily appointment reminder calls to patients• Records cancellations in the medical records and gives to the provider for review• Schedules appointments over the phone• Do follow-up calls and appointment reminder calls to patients and distributes the list of reminder calls of patients with specific language needs to appropriate staff• Determines whether to reassign patients to a different provider or to reschedule whenever providers cancel clinicsGeneral Agency/AHS Duties• Fosters an environment that promotes trust and cooperation among clients and staff• Enforces clinic policies and procedures, including maintenance of client confidentiality under HIPAA privacy rules, to ensure that the principles of AHS are implemented• Plays an active role in planning organization-wide activities such as AHS general membership meetings, fundraisers, special clinic days, and other events• Participates in general membership meetings, fundraisers, and other public events, as required• Participates in outreach activities, agency advocacy, and serves on ad hoc committees, as requested• Attends AHS staff retreats and Board of Directors meetings, as required• Participates in agency-wide quality improvement program processes and performance improvement teams to ensure excellence in the quality of services provided across the agencyMinimum Qualifications• A high school diploma or GED, two years’ work-related experience in the reception area and community clinics; or an equivalent combination of education and experiencePreferred Qualifications• Bilingual in English and Vietnamese, Cantonese is a plus.• Commitment to working in the Asian community, to community health care with familiarity with community health clinics preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities• Computer systems and input of information• Working under pressure and in a team environment• Exercising sound judgment within the scope of authority and practice• Providing interpreting services to patients• Use of computers and how to input data or information• Work independently with minimal supervision• Work under pressure and in a team environment• Interact sensitively with patients and providers• Exercise sound judgment and make decisions appropriate to the scope of authority and practice• Collaborate with other members of the health care team on an ongoing basis• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work• Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written• Performs a variety of other duties within the scope of the job with the ability to change from one task to another of a different nature, as necessary, without loss of efficiency or composure• Ability to communicate effectively, get along with coworkers and management, and deal effectively and professionally under pressureBENEFITS:Medical, Dental, Vision premiums 100% paid by AHS12 Vacation Days12 Sick Days12 Holidays and 3 Floating Holidays3% 403B Employer Contributions and up to 2% Employee Match ContributionTransportation Benefit Paid by AHSFSA/Dependent Care AssistanceLong Term Disability
