Job Title: Assistant Athletic Director/Head Wrestling Coach
Location: Athletics and Recreation, Division of Student Affairs, Hunter College
POSITION STRUCTURE: AEC/Hunter College. At-Will annual appointment.
FLSA: Except
Compensation: Salary commensurate with education and successful experience: $40,000-$60,000
Position Details:
Athletics Administration
- Will be an active administrator within the Athletics administrative team, with specific duties, which could include equipment/event management, fiscal reporting, procurement, alumni relations, assessment, scheduler, evening supervisor, facilities, communications, special events etc.
- Coordinate annual goals and priorities based on department/college objectives, including goal assessment.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Athletics and the Office of Institutional Advancement on fundraising efforts for the wrestling team and other Athletics programs
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Head Coach, Men’s Wrestling:
- Recruit qualified student-athletes, which includes the identification, evaluation, recruitment, retention and graduation of prospective student-athletes.
- Organize and manage a competitive NCAA Division III program in accordance with College/CUNYAC & NCAA policies.
- Manage scheduling, practice planning, game day operations and travel.
- Provide successful coaching, guidance and direction, to ensure that team members have the opportunity to realize their potential as athletes, students and members of the overall college community.
- Create positive support for the program within the campus community and outside constituencies including alumni, parents, and friends of Hunter College.
- Hire, supervise, and lead part-time assistant coaching staff).
- Re-establish and enhance the alumni base.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
This position requires a flexible schedule - including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 3+ years of related coaching and college administration, preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III philosophy of athletics and adherence to NCAA regulations regarding operation of athletic programs.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ethical leadership.
- Successful recruitment, retention, graduation and development of a competitive program.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of people, in a complex, urban and fast paced environment
- Drivers’ License Required. Required to drive up to 15-passenger van for team travel.
