About the Role:
As an Assistant Controller at Mavely, you will play a crucial role in establishing, maintaining and managing effective accounting practices for the company. You will be responsible for developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable in accounting principles, and experienced in managing financial operations. What you'll do:
  • Assist with the integration of a new accounting software package and the development and implementation of financial controls and procedures for the accounting department.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are maintained.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Financial Officer and other members of the management team.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Work cross-functionally to streamline accounting processes and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Participate in the preparation of audit schedules and support the annual audit process.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.
What you'll need:
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • 5+ years public accounting experience or 7+ years of relevant general ledger accounting experience.
  • Strong, demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
  • Comfort and familiarity with financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
  • Practical knowledge of Annual Budgeting processes and reports.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Month-end Close activities, including month-end journal entries and reconciliations.
