Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director of Development, Gift Planning – Boca Raton, FL.
Summary of Responsibilities include:
Manages a portfolio of assigned gift planning prospects and serves as a front-line fundraiser, with a focus of growing planned gift and blended gift activity across the university.
Assists the Executive Director with the gift planning program. These duties include making individual decisions on ways to improve the gift planning program, as well as being the initial contact person for many of the gift planning marketing responses and correspondence.
Works with Advancement Services to update constituent records in Raiser’s Edge database.
Assists with maintaining and tracking deferred giving and estate activity in the Raiser’s Edge database in conjunction with the Advancement Services Office and pulls weekly update reports for the Executive Director.
Drafts deferred giving agreements and contracts for a variety of gift planning vehicles, such as charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, lead trusts, grantor trusts, and other gift planning vehicles, using PG Calc or other gift planning software.
Responds to, tracks and files estate documents through the estate settlement process and serves as liaison to the legal department at FAU in the estate review and settlement process.
Assists the Executive Director’s efforts to support, educate, and provide assistance to FAU’s development officers, donors, prospects, and FAU stakeholders in the gift planning arena.
Assists with the documentation, transmittal and recording of planned gifts in conjunction with the FAU Foundation and Advancement Services offices.
Serves as point person to the division for gift instruments, the gift acceptance process, and legal reviews.
Assists with donor relations activities for the gift planning office, including, but not limited to an annual event for Horizon Society members and educational/engagement events for constituents.
Serves on division task forces/teams and completes other special projects and job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as a paralegal, or evidence of successful experience with utilizing a paralegal skillset.
Excellent communication skills, clear writer, attention to detail, research and investigative skills, multitasking ability, observation skills, good memory, critical thinking, and willingness to learn.
The successful candidate must be a team player.

Fluency in Microsoft Office products
Salary:
$50,000 - $80,000 per year.
