The Student Success Center (SSC) provides academic support to all undergraduates enrolled at Virginia Tech. To learn more about our mission, vision, and support services, please visit our website: http://www.studentsuccess.vt.edu||As a member of the Student Success Center team and under the supervision of the Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for:| Coordinates, develops, and provides programming and group workshops and delivered on-campus and online for a variety of student populations that contribute to overall student success | Manages the Student Success Center Scholarship Support programs. This includes: Providing and tracking scholarship activities, programs, and student success, and working with the Office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid to determine the continued eligibility of grant recipients. | Teaching Student Success Center classes including UNIV 1004: College Success Strategies, a 3-credit hour course that focuses on academic skills development| Meeting with and advising individual undergraduate students on academic skills and developing plans for academic success | Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of programs and services and identifies and implements improvements as the assessment lead for the Student Success Center | Participates in the development of departmental goals and monitors and tracks data to assist with initiatives around student success and institutional effectiveness | Representing the Student Success Center on various university committees| Maintaining and reporting usage data on courses and programs, overseeing and managing program budgets, and engaging in continuous assessment of programming/services| Supervising graduate assistants| Assisting with the delivery of other programs and services as needed| Occasional evening and weekend work|
Required Qualifications
A Master's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in student affairs/development, counseling, educational administration, educational psychology, or another closely related field | Expertise in social justice education and ability to be sensitive to diversity related issues| Experience providing academic support| Demonstrated record of working with undergraduate students, including those from diverse populations| Student centered, learning focused approach| High level of initiative and strong interpersonal, organizational, leadership, and presentation skills| ability to effectively collaborate with staff, faculty, and administrators|

The Student Success Center at Virginia Tech provides the tools and resources within a welcoming environment where undergraduate students can cultivate their academic, personal, and professional skills to achieve their goals.
We are searching for a student focused and detail oriented Assistant Director of Scholarship Support to manage our scholarship programs within the Student Success Center. Reporting to the Director of the Student Success Center, the position includes three main responsibilities: 1) supporting our students in scholarship programs, including the Presidential Scholarship Initiative and Presidential Campus Enrichment Grant students, 2) contribute to support the initiatives of the Student Success Center holistically, and 3) monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of programs and services and identifies and implements improvements as the assessment lead for the Student Success Center. This is a regular 12-month administrative/professional position.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
