The Role
The Branded Content team is seeking an Assistant Editor who can aid the growing Post Department. This role is a pivotal part of the Post department and as such we need a well organised candidate that can set our team up for success. The Assistant Editor is responsible for ingestion, preparing and handing off all of the projects for edit within Adobe Premiere and as well as project relinking for archival. The role works hand in hand with our internal team of Editors, Post Supervisors and our external post vendors. As part of a global team the successful candidate will be collaborating across different time zones requiring a high attention to detail, excellent time management and great communication skills. The Assistant Editor reports to the Supervising Editor who is based in the UK.
The Team
The Branded Content team is an exciting part of Conde Nast Entertainment. We work across all brands such as Vogue, Wired, The New Yorker, Self, GQ and Bon Appetit. We specialise in crafting branded videos that tell a narrative story whether it's a Tik Tok showcasing the newest beauty trends, travel videos featuring the islands of the Bahamas, narrative pieces that explain cloud computing works, or a documentary that focuses on the importance of one's health and everything in between. The team is globally based with members in both the US and the UK working collaboratively to achieve our goals.
What will you be doing?
  • Ingest media to our on premise storage server, cloud based storage system and MAM
  • Catalogue and organise the media based on the project details
  • Prepare all projects for edit using Adobe Premiere and Encoder to generate proxy files
  • Organise and create string outs within the project by syncing sound/video based off the camera reports from set and best judgement
  • Create any multicam or stacked sequences
  • Export stringouts for transcription
  • Communicate with Post Supervisors and Supervising Editor on the progress of tasks, updates to the project and flag any issues with the material
  • Maintain project integrity for hand off to either an internal editor or external vendor
  • Prepare and export projects files for finishing (colour and sound mix)
  • Master and deliver final assets to spec when required
  • Relink projects within Adobe Premiere after completion for archival
  • Troubleshoot technical problems with Editors + Post Management
  • Provide edit support for quick turnaround requests as needed
  • Perform various tasks such as lite editing, asset retrieval for sizzles and hard drive tracking
Who you are:
  • 2 years of AE/post production experience required. Additional experience with digital and advertising content preferred
  • Extensive Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Media Encoder, After Effects, Photoshop) required
  • Experience following post workflows to maintain and catalogue projects. Additionally experience with networked storage, cloud based editing and MAM systems would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of media codecs, encoding profiles, video and audio formats, aspect ratios, bit rates, and finishing processes (prep/conform/colour/sound/mix/QC/Mastering and Delivery)
  • Ability to read and execute spec sheets
  • Highly organised, ability to take direction and execute tasks as needed
  • Work independently and alongside the team. Be proactive in your approach to solve problems, create solutions and complete tasks
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a deadline-driven startup environment
Where will you be?
  • We encourage hybrid working but when you are in the office, this role will be primarily based in the wonderful Adelphi building with breathtaking views over the Thames and next to the hustle and bustle of The Strand. This is our London HQ and where members of our global teams sit enabling all of our award-winning content to be created.
