Reporting to the Associate Director for Collection & Resource Services, the Electronic Resources Librarian will provide expertise in and strategically plan for the future of electronic and continuing resources. Key responsibilities include vendor communications, budget forecasting and tracking, continuous review of electronic collections, and working as a team with the Associate Director for Collection & Resource Services and other library colleagues. The Electronic Resources Librarian will manage, develop, and use a variety of systems to deliver our collections virtually to library researchers on and off campus, and will ensure that the library collections most effectively and efficiently support curricular needs and scholarly endeavors. The librarian in this position also participates in research consultations, instruction (information literacy sessions, as well as credit-bearing courses in rotation with colleagues), and liaison work, and holds a tenure-track faculty appointment in the Library.
Liaison - 5
Pursues opportunities to establish and maintain cross-disciplinary expertise by participating in relevant Library activities. Advocates for the role of assessment in the formulation of library services and policies. Provides basic consultation and education to faculty and students, including information copyright, open access services and resources, and publishing alternatives.
Professional Development - 5
Maintains an expert knowledge of recent advances or trends in librarianship and related fields through reading, training, networking, attending conferences, workshops, etc., or other means of development/personal growth.
Scholarship and Creative Activity - 10
As a member of the faculty, participates in planning, researching, writing, and publishing in areas of expertise; participates in professional organizations; plans and/or participates in programs, activities, and workshops; seeks external sources of funding and submits grant proposals.
Service to Institution - 10
Faculty contribute service to the institution. Examples include the following: Department, college, and university committee memberships and offices; planning and/or participating in programs, activities, and workshops; participation in special programs or projects and other service in the institution.
Public Service - 10
Public Service is often a part of the service expectations and might include activities, such as the following: service to the profession, consulting work, membership and participation in community organizations and other significant services to the community.
Teaching/Instructing - 10
Teaching and Instructional Responsibilities include actively soliciting, creating, and teaching information literacy instruction to support the students and the University's curriculum; and contributing to the Georgia College core curriculum by teaching information-literacy related first year (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. This position performs reference duties as assigned and creates and promotes instructional information such as bibliographies, service guides, web publications, subject-related research guides, etc. Participating in the library's collection development efforts by reviewing, selecting, and making recommendations for the purchase of library materials that support the curriculum is also required of this position.
Management - 50
Works with vendors to determine prices and obtain licenses/contract terms for review; liaises with vendors on contract negotiations, and with University colleagues to route them for review and approval; and follows up with vendors to obtain invoices when appropriate.
Maintains funds, ledgers, purchase orders, invoices and other records in the library's management system for electronic and continuing resources.
Activates, maintains, and troubleshoots access to electronic resources via provider platforms and library management system.
Serves as the primary liaison with vendors regarding electronic and continuing resources; responsible for coordinating license negotiations, ordering, and managing access to electronic and continuing resources. Coordinates meetings with vendors as needed.
Manages the electronic and subscription resource lifecycle, regardless of format; including collection development, acquisitions, implementation, and evaluation.
Manages the institutional knowledge-base, electronic resource management system, link resolver, and usage statistics tools.
Analyzes data from multiple sources and usage patterns to evaluate and assess library collection use and how well those collections meet the needs of the curriculum and the library's patrons.
Educational Requirements
Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library and information science program. (Please note: all degrees must be conferred by an accredited institution by the hire date.)

Required Experience
Minimum of 6 months experience in collection development or electronic resources management in a library setting.
Demonstrated understanding of the electronic resources life cycle and management practices.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
An appreciation for the role of the library in an interdisciplinary, liberal arts institution of higher education
Preferred Experience
Experience in an academic library, and educational background or work experience that indicates an ability to manage electronic and continuing resources in a digital environment
Experience with electronic serials and resource management, including electronic resource management systems
Experience with Desire2Learn or other Learning Management Systems
ABILITIES

Knowledge of scholarly publishing and licensing trends in academic libraries
SKILLS
Skills in the use of a variety of computer software used in the library; demonstrated knowledge and experience with electronic and web-based resources and systems, such as Ex Libris Alma/Primo or EBSCO FOLIO
