Assistant, Temporary Box Office

Job Description
Responsible for selling tickets to theatre events and handling payment transactions. Provide clerical assistance within the department to include, filing, copying, handling department telephone calls, and general customer service activities.
Varies
Base Pay: $15.00. Offer amount based on College's Salary Schedule guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Make photocopies and/or scan documents into the system.
  • Receive, make or transfer telephone calls.
  • Welcome and assist persons who come into the department.
  • Screen calls for supervisors and respond to routine questions.
  • Provide information to the public, students, and/or staff regarding programs and services of a department, campus, or College.
  • Answer, screen, research, inform, advise, record, process and follow up all customer requests efficiently and expeditiously as received by telephone, mail or personally from citizens, elected officials, agencies, and/or College faculty and staff.
  • Assist personnel with operating office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copying machines as well as software programs, providing training when necessary.
  • Set up and organize files and manuals; count and alphabetize records; keep files up to date; distribute, as needed.
  • Sell tickets to events using an on line software ticketing program.
  • Receive payments (cash, check and/or credit card). Balance and close cash drawers or computer. Reconcile cashier activity on system.
  • Work with theatre user groups during performances to sell tickets and accommodate patrons’ needs including handicapped patrons.
  • Acquire knowledge of other staff duties and serve as a back up, as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED with little or no formal training.
Preferred:
Some related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skilled in:
Good verbal and written communication.
Organized and good time management.
Work Environment and Physical Demand:
Lift object weighing up to 20 pounds.
Carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
Standing up for one hour at a time.
Stooping and bending.
Ability to reach and grasp objects.
Ability to communicate orally.
Ability to hear.
Pushing or pulling carts or other such objects.
Proofreading and checking documents for accuracy. D
Using a keyboard to enter and transform words or data.
Using a video display terminal.
Working in a normal office environment with few physical discomforts.
