Assistant/Associate Professor of Physical Therapy

Job Description

The Krannert School of Physical Therapy at the University of Indianapolis is entering an exciting time of innovation as we look to the future of physical therapy education. We are seeking 1-2 dynamic individuals with expertise in adult neurologic/geriatric physical therapy and/or cardiopulmonary/acute care physical therapy to join our exceptional academic team. If you are interested in becoming part of the nationally recognized faculty of the Krannert School of Physical Therapy, then you are invited to apply for a 10-month, tenure-track assistant/associate professor position or non-tenure assistant/associate professor of practice position.

The primary responsibilities of the position include teaching, scholarship, and service in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program, with the option of clinical practice consistent with the mission of the University and School. Additional responsibilities may include academic advising and the potential to advise on doctoral dissertations in the Doctor of Health Science Program.

The start date is August 14, 2023.

  • Successfully achieved CAPTE re-accreditation in 2022.
  • Contemporary, interdisciplinary building housing the College of Health Sciences, College of Education and Behavior Sciences, School of Nursing, and health and wellness services that serve the campus and surrounding community.

  • State-of-the-art movement analysis lab and simulation-lab
  • Opportunities for interdisciplinary research with growing and expanding programs within the College of Health Sciences.
  • Opportunities for interprofessional educational experiences involving a variety of university programs and off-campus partnerships.
  • A partnership with Community Health Network, a local multidisciplinary health care system.
  • Located on the near south side of Indianapolis, the 15th most populous city in the US, also known as the “Crossroads of America” for its proximity to several other major cities, including Chicago, Cincinnati, Louisville, and St. Louis.

Responsibilities - Assistant/Associate Professor

Qualifications - Assistant/Associate Professor

  • Evidence of successful academic and/or clinical teaching in physical therapy is required
  • Evidence of contemporary expertise reflective of current clinical practice within physical therapy
  • A terminal academic or clinical doctoral degree (Ph.D., EdD, DSc, DHS, DPT, etc.) from a regionally accredited institution is required
  • Individuals currently enrolled in an academic doctoral program will be considered
  • Specialization or identified clinical expertise is preferred
  • Eligibility and intention to obtain an unrestricted Indiana physical therapy license
