PNNL's Earth System Science Division enables energy independence and national security through leadership in earth systems science, engineering, and decision analytics. Our work focuses on solving complex problems in the dynamic Earth system. Responsibilities:
Performs administrative and office support activities. Duties may include managing schedules, emails, and travel, fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, creating spreadsheets and presentations, and filing. More specific duties depending on discipline may also include development of required documentation and fielding questions from internal or external stakeholders.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Articulating standard policy and procedures to multiple audience levels.
  • Assisting with travel and processes expense reports.
  • Performing administrative and office support activities.
  • Fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, creating spreadsheets and presentations, and filing.
  • Understanding office support functions and possessing the ability to effectively apply procedures.
  • Maintaining common area machines and initiates service requests.
  • May attend meetings.
  • May be designated to provide general administrative support to a work group(s).
  • Setting an example for positive working relationships with co-workers.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED and 2 years of relevant experience in a clerical or administrative environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong written & oral communication skills
  • Experience with scheduling or managing calendars
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Previous office management experience
Additional Information:
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance.

Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Background Investigation: Applicants selected will be subject to a federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter in accordance 10 CFR 710, Appendix B.

  • Drug Testing: All Security Clearance (L or Q) positions will be considered by the Department of Energy to be Testing Designated Positions which means that they are subject to applicant, random, and for cause drug testing. In addition, applicants must be able to demonstrate non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for the 12 consecutive months preceding completion of the requisite Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP).

Testing Designated Position (TDP):
This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The candidate selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing for illegal drugs, including marijuana, consistent with the Controlled Substances Act and the PNNL Workplace Substance Abuse Program.
