Associate, Assistant Portfolio Manager

The PF APM is a key member of the Project Finance Americas team, which is focused on originating and managing a large and growing portfolio of renewable and sustainable energy transactions in the Americas. Clients include leading financial or strategic players in the renewable and sustainable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

The APM will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the PM in the administration, management, and monitoring of a high-volume growing portfolio
  • Key functions include: timely monitoring and keeping on top of developments in a portfolio of construction and operating projects (wind, solar, battery storage and other sustainable energy technologies)
  • Covenant compliance – reviewing and following up on covenants and reporting deliverables
  • Reviewing construction and operating reports, DSCR calculations, annual budgets, loan draw packages, and disbursement requests
  • Managing communications with banks where Rabobank serves as Agent
  • Timely responding to client requests in a professional manner
  • Managing internal audit requests
  • Maintaining good housekeeping for the portfolio – timely filing executed documentation, reporting deliverables, and internal approvals
  • Work closely with internal credit, legal, and middle-office in the administration of the loans
  • Work with portfolio team in preparing internal monitoring presentations
  • Reviewing amendment, waiver and consent requests and preparing credit memoranda to be submitted for credit approval outlining risks and mitigating factors

  • Client-facing role so attention to detail, timeliness, and reliability in executing on client requests in a timely manner is key
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple deals and deadlines, and self-prioritize is also essential
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, and desire for excellence
  • Attention to detail to ensure all requests are handled in accordance with policies and procedures and loan draws and disbursements are in accordance with the financing documentation
  • Communications skills (oral and excellent written)
  • Financial analytical and risk assessment skills – exercise prudent risk management and judgement in handling portfolio activities
  • Interpersonal skills, including teamwork

Job Skills and Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in project finance or structured loan products (portfolio management, credit, or origination)
  • Familiarity with Legal documentation
  • Familiarity with Project finance structures
  • Ability to understand and interpret drivers of a project’s performance
  • Credit analysis skills and ability to make sound credit risk decisions
  • Manipulating financial models
  • Banking operations
  • Loan administration and portfolio management
  • Operation of derivatives, money markets and capital markets

Desirable: (To be learned on the job if not already had at hiring)

Renewable energy sector knowledge

Development Value:

  • To increase product and sector skills within renewable and sustainable energy, a growing field

Qualifications - Essential:

  • BA in business, economics, or related field from top school or
  • Minimum 3+ years of energy/infrastructure project finance experience at a financial institution

Desirable: (Optional)

  • MBA from top school
  • CFA qualifications

Salary Expectations

Target Hiring Range:
$115,000 - $185,000

This position is subject to the terms of Rabobank’s compensation plans and policies. It is anticipated that the position will pay within the target hiring range. The range is reflective of the desired primary physical work location and may be adjusted outside of the projected range based on geographical differentiation if the actual work location of the hired candidate differs from the desired primary location, or for other lawful reasons. Further, the position includes all other benefits provided to Rabobank employees, including healthcare benefits, 401k matching, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, possible discretionary bonuses and all other benefits that are all governed by and subject to ERISA plan documents and eligibility.
