Dow has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Associate Business Finance Director supporting the Performance Monomers business. The preferred location is Collegeville, PA but would consider other Dow locations in North America, Latin America, or Europe (EMEAI).
About you and this role
As an Associate Business Finance Director, you will provide strategic and financial counsel to the Performance Monomers business while also having financial oversight of the Plastics Additives business. Performance Monomers is an intermediate business that is a reliable, cost advantaged, global supplier of acrylates, methacrylates, vinyl acetate, and specialty monomers driven by world-scale assets and vertical integration. Approximately 60-70% of the monomer supply supports captive demand (including Plastics Additives) while the remaining 30-40% is sold to the merchant market.
Responsibilities
  • Acting as a strong co-pilot to the Global Business Director by providing financial counsel and active engagement in creating and implementing the business strategy
  • Providing finance leadership on the Global Performance Monomers Business Leadership Team
  • Supporting major growth and value preservation projects, including footprint analyses in line with the business’ asset strategy
  • Acting as a liaison to the other business and functional leaders (especially M&E and Supply Chain), as well as finance partners within the acrylic envelope and upstream businesses.
  • Identifying opportunities and guiding the business to optimize profitability
  • Identifying key value enablers necessary to achieve business success and deliver on strategic objectives
  • Monitoring and provide analysis for major business agreements
  • Monitoring and provide financial council related to a Joint Venture (JV)
  • Providing financial oversight and guidance for Plastics Additives, a captive business within the Acrylic Envelope
  • Developing short and long-term financial plans
  • Providing oversight for financial reporting for the business including monthly closing and relevant financial controls / compliance
  • Providing coaching and leadership to five financial team members
  • Driving financial acumen across the organization
  • Working cross-functionally with Business, Regional and Global Leadership Team members within the business, M&E and Technology Centers, and team members within Corporate Strategy and the broader Finance function
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

  • Communication Skills – Ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently through both oral presentations and in writing.
  • Bias for Action – Ability to act despite insufficient and ambiguous information and under time constraints
  • Learning – be a quick learner and willing to proactively tackle a steep learning curve.
  • Strong analytical, modeling and Excel skills
