Associate Dean

Responsible for overall academic administration at the campus. Assists the Dean of Academic Affairs with interviewing, hiring and supervising faculty. Assists the Dean with determining and building student schedules. Participate in management of departmental budgets for drops and reentry goals, as well as academic department payroll. Responsible for retention of academic staff, faculty, and students. Ensure academic advising is completed. Participate in curriculum development and other ongoing academic issues for the university. Coordinate with other departments to implement academic polices and procedures set by Vice President for Academic Affairs. Ensure student satisfaction at campus level.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Monitor Last Day of Attendance (LDA) and conduct retention calls and emails to students
  • Respond to student calls and emails for assistance and academic advising
  • Respond to faculty requests and concerns and assist in the faculty recruitment process.
  • Take action on requests and questions from other Departments, other campus Academic staff, VP and VP for Academic Affairs.

Weekly Responsibilities

  • Monitor retention, including academic team teaming and campus LDA meetings
  • Meet with VP for planning and feedback
  • Prepare academic reports as needed for VP for Academic Affairs
  • Conduct classroom observations as needed
  • Be available for faculty assistance and student academic advising when classes are in session
  • Participate in scheduling and faculty recruitment process, including faculty credentialing
  • Monitor and submit faculty payroll subject to Dean’s approval.
  • Monitor and approve department budget subject to Dean’s approval.

Monthly Responsibilities

  • Assist Dean with SAP, academic advising, and status changes.
  • Assist the Admissions department with incoming new students
  • Assist Dean to confirm and ensure that faculty are in place for new term teaching assignment
  • Participate in the start week for new student orientation
  • Assist Dean to perform welcome advisement for new and returning students.
  • Be available to hold monthly faculty meetings
  • Perform faculty classroom observations.
  • Assist Dean in building courses, registering students in classes and maintaining student schedules.

Quarterly/Semester Responsibilities

  • Update the quarterly Institutional Effectiveness campus master plan.
  • Ensure accreditation standards are being met.
  • Organize and Attend Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings
  • Attend Departmental Faculty Meetings

Annually Responsibilities

  • Assist Dean with annual faculty evaluations.
  • Assist Dean with review and approval of Annual Faculty Development Plan/Progress Reports
  • Maintain attrition rate of 4% or lower
  • Assist with and monitor Institutional Effectiveness goals, such as surveys and assessments
  • Meet and exceed student satisfaction goals

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year

  • 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Maitland, FL 32751: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Teaching Certification (Preferred)
