Overview/Purpose:
Architectural Digest is looking for a passionate and innovative media talent to join our audience development, social and analytics team. A perfect candidate will understand how to use social media to develop, engage, connect, and build loyal audiences across platforms, and be clued in on emerging platforms and how AD can use them effectively. We love to find what makes our audience tick, dig into strategies and insights, uncover new consumer markets, and develop creative storytelling that connects deeply and resonates broadly. The associate director will oversee the team’s social media managers, and should be comfortable both in setting high-level strategies and digging into daily processes by writing and editing social content.
This candidate must have a proven history of growing social audiences, and is enthusiastic about leading an agile team. This person has an instinct for what’s on (and off) brand, has an eye for powerful visuals, understands how data can inform a smart editorial and social strategy, and is an expert at juggling multiple projects, managing deadlines, distilling social numbers into actionable insights, communicating to brand leadership on strategy and performance, and advocating for strong social content across the organization.
Responsibilities:
  • Take strategic ownership of AD’s global social platforms, guiding high-level strategy and day-to-day optimizations to increase traffic, engagement, community and revenue.
  • Manage a team of social media managers, helping them develop their skills and grow their careers.
  • Drive fresh and exciting storytelling on social media as it relates to brand sentiment, cultural mindfulness, and integrating brand initiatives with purpose for commercial requests.
  • Work closely with the editorial team to optimize and create efficient processes while also bringing opportunities for innovation and break-through social work.
  • Pitch and develop social-first franchises with opportunity for audience growth, brand loyalty, and revenue.
  • Work with AD’s sales and marketing team on sponsorship opportunities in addition to the commerce team on new activations and testing.
  • Create and manage a social calendar in collaboration with editorial, video, commercial, PR, and consumer marketing teams.
  • Report on social performance and present insights and best practices to cross functional teams.
  • Develop relationships with other social and audience development leaders at Condé Nast, gathering and disseminating best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience in managing social media for a large brand or media publisher, ideally having experience with editorial and audience development
  • Professional experience creating and optimizing content for platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, TikTok, and LinkedIn
  • Professional experience with publishing and analytics tools including SocialFlow, CrowdTangle, Dash Hudson, Facebook Insights, Parse.ly, and Google Analytics
  • Experience creating visual assets with Premiere, Photoshop, Canva, InDesign, and/or Illustrator
  • Experience driving and/or contributing to commerce strategy on social platforms with a strong POV on packaging, CTA, measurement, and optimization
  • Excellent editorial judgment, writing skills, and ability to capture Architectural Digest’s voice to reach new and established audiences.
Base Salary Range: $93,000 - $120,000
