Associate Director of Retail Operations

The Associate Director of Retail Operations reports to the Senior Associate Director of Holy Cross Dining. This position has full responsibility for all retail locations campus wide. Primary functions are to oversee and manage all staffing, financial responsibilities, quality control, customer service, sanitation practices, coordination and menu planning.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Oversee day to day retail operations
  • Ensure guest satisfaction and quality control
  • Ensure guest safety for allergies and special meal requests
  • Manage new Food truck once it’s purchased
  • Increase top line sales year over year
  • Visits off-site locations to find inspiration and ideas
  • Innovate with technology to promote speed of service
  • Manges projects as assigned
  • This position will also support other areas of Dining & Hospitality Services when needed
  • Plan menus, manage logistics and ensure that the required equipment, personnel and supplies are available when needed
  • Work with the team to maintain current and trendy menus
  • Oversee the management team of the retail operations to ensure the operations comply with established standards of service, cost controls and product quality. Work with the team in all retail locations to maintain current and trendy menus and convenience store offerings.
  • Review Food Pro, People Soft and Adaptive financial information to maintain labor cost, inventory, food cost and liquor cost for all cash operations. Ensures all time recording for staff in retail are calculated and recorded correctly.
  • Oversee the Performance Evaluation process, training, progressive discipline and recruiting/hiring for retail staff. Provide leadership, training, motivation and vision for the staff.
  • Ensures sanitation and safety standards are followed at all times for retail operations and staff. Be sure to follow all state laws governing alcohol service and sanitation are followed.
  • Finds ways to be more efficient and cut cost whenever possible
  • Works closely with the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications and the Associate Director of Menu Development & Nutrition to showcase products and promote dining as a whole
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Hotel Restaurant Management, Culinary Arts, or Associates in Occupational Studies preferred. Ten years management experience and demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills in Catering/ Event planning and retail operations.
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Food Pro, People Soft, Adaptive, Kronos, Event/Management systems, FAMIS, POS systems and other related systems for catering/events and retail.
  • Must be certified in Food Safety, AllerTrain and TIPS.
