Associate Editor, CNT
Working out of our New York office, the Associate Editor plays a key editorial and operational support role in the brand’s tentpole franchises, in particular the Readers’ Choice Awards––CNT’s reader survey that determines the world’s best hotels, airlines, islands, and more––while also contributing to daily digital content with a focus on news and SEO content. The Associate Editor reports to the Articles Director.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage the production schedule around the annual Readers’ Choice Awards, bringing together key stakeholders from Editorial, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales to administer the survey and manage process of collating results
Suggest story ideas for digital and print based on survey data, and support Articles Director, Global Digital Director, and Destinations Editor in rollout of RCAs content
Pitch, write, and edit short-form news and trend content for digital
Write and update digital stories and galleries based on SEO best practices
Pitch, write, and provide support for print, including front of book and back page
Support Senior Features Editor in managing relationships with travel specialists in our network, and find ways to utilize specialists in our reporting
Provide editorial support on other global franchises, like the Hot List, as well as one-off editorial initiatives
Support Articles Director and Global Digital Director when needed on editorial packages, from brainstorm to deployment—including researching, editing, and building stories in CMS
Assist with website and newsletter production as needed
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
At least three years in an editorial role such as Editorial Assistant. Prior experience in travel is preferred but not required.
Excellent writing, editing, copy editing skills, and attention to detail
Strong fact-checking and research skills
Ability to learn and operate digital content management systems
Must demonstrate a commitment to diverse storytelling
Interest in travel and service journalism is essential
The expected base salary range for this position is from $56,500 - $87,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
