Associate Packaging Engineer - NERF

The Hasbro Nerf development team is seeking an Associate Package Engineer to join our team!

In this position, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the creative design and execution of the brand vision, while balancing considerations such as sustainability, retail space, cost, and overall quality. You will actively participate and make valuable contributions to the product development process by identifying and implementing innovative methods and solutions that will deliver on product objectives by providing the most efficient packaging execution. As part of the development organization, you will be actively involved in defining the initial concept, exploring new materials and new process, developing and defining packaging specifications. You will participate and help drive the decision-making process throughout entire product innovation cycle.

A Day in the Life of a Nerf Associate Package Engineer

• You will collaborate with diverse multi-functional teams at our Rhode Island headquarters and will connect with product development partners around the world.
• You will create and sell in structural packaging concepts that align to brand vision
• You will have the ability to conceptualize, prototype and present 2D and 3D structural packaging concepts that align to the overall brand vision.
• Engage with global manufacturing partners to find creative solutions and efficiencies to packaging challenges.

What you’ll bring

Education/Experience Required

• B.S. Packaging Science or related degree, or equivalent experience
• 1-3 years of experience developing structural packaging for consumer products, or equivalent experience
• Ability to drive multiple projects in a fast paced and dynamic business environment
• Abode Creative suite experience preferred
• Microsoft O365 software suite a plus

Critical skills required

• Experience using CAD (ArtiosCAD and Solidworks preferred) to create, review, and analyze package structure designs.
• Build detailed package specification documents that will be used to drive manufacturing needs.
• Genuine passion for packaging, and deep knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
• Ability to assess, communicate and mitigate technical risks.
• Ability to clearly communicate and/or translate technical information to a non-technical audience.
• Ability to collaborate with and influence multi-functional teams in the US and globally.
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and shifting priorities.
• Self-motivated with exceptional organization, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and outstanding follow-up skills.
