Associate Photographer

Job Summary

As a Purdue entry-level Photographer, you will capture the people and places that make Purdue University a world-class university. You will produce photographic images featured throughout various marketing and engagement channels with a global reach. The Photographer will assist with photographic planning, shooting, and editing alongside a project team and senior photographers. In addition, help with design tasks such as searching for images, resizing photos, and archiving assets. You must be able to balance short- and long-term deadlines, accept and process feedback, and communicate and work collaboratively with colleagues across all levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Shoot timely photo content for social media, news & various marketing materials. This includes editing and preparing photo assets for various platforms.
• Assist senior-level photographers on higher-profile shoots with location scouting, concepts, lighting, etc.
• Serve as an additional photographer on larger-scale events.
• Archive, organize, and keyword photographs in a digital asset system (PhotoShelter).
• Assist in updating Campus Partners/Public photo galleries with new images.
• Learn new photography skills through ongoing professional development.

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant fine arts field
• In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience ( High school diploma + four years of relevant experience)
• Demonstrated familiarity and skill with photo editing software (Photoshop & Lightroom)
• Ability to photograph portraits, group photos, and event photography
• Ability to work in a fast pace environment
• Ability to work individually or collaboratively in a teamwork environment
• Ability to search for photos, edit, resize and prepare assets for usage
• Ability to maintain equipment, report any problems or broken equipment, and report any editing software needs or issues
• Ability to upload photo assignments into Digital Asset system (PhotoShelter) with keywords and metadata
• Ability to work within brand guidelines
• Ability to log shooting and editing hours in project management system
• Ability to maintain a supportive atmosphere for fellow photo and video staff
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Preferred:

• One (1) year of professional photography experience
• Knowledge on Nikon Camera
• Knowledge of artificial lighting
