Position Summary
The Associate Privacy Analyst serves as Ethics and Compliance Department staff and is a key team member in City of Hope’s system privacy program and activities. At the direction of the Privacy Manager, the Associate Privacy Analyst performs regular and proactive audits to monitor compliance with City of Hope’s privacy policies and to ensure compliance with the Federal HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) Privacy Rule and other applicable federal and state privacy regulations.. They are also responsible for fielding and responding to privacy-related inquiries including investigations, auditing, monitoring and improvement activities, and using judgment and expert knowledge to escalate issues to the Privacy Manager and/or Chief Privacy Officer.
The Associate Privacy Analyst will also assist in reviewing and responding to various privacy related audits and preparing notifications to patients and regulatory authorities for privacy violations. The Associate Privacy Analyst communicates regularly with other departments including Health Information Management Services, Patient Financial Services, Human Resources and Information Security, and also with various levels of staff regarding privacy and security issues. Bachelor’s degree and at least one (1) years’ experience in a health care setting required, preferably in a position that required knowledge and experience with patient privacy and information security, or a similar job that required interpretation of complex regulations and communication of same to all levels of staff. Individual must possess excellent attention to detail, strong writing and verbal communications skills, and be able to make critical decisions based on data analysis.
Key Responsibilities include:

Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
