Associate Product Development Scientist

Ocean Spray's Product Development and Culinary Innovation team (PDCI) is hiring! Our mission is to craft product innovation with industry-leading technical knowledge to deliver products consumers crave and benefits they trust.

Do you have a passion for product development? We're seeking an Associate Product Development Scientist to support various product development initiatives. Together, PDCI team leads product development in beverages and foods across multiple platforms across the globe.

A day in the life of an Associate Product Development Scientist:

Support or lead the design and execution of product experiments including bench-top, pilot plant and production plant trials due to new formulations or changes to existing formulation or processes.
Lead development of line extensions or formula improvements with some supervision.
Proficiently organize and execute routine product performance and analytical evaluations, including brix, pH, titratable acids, vitamin C, etc.
Conduct product stability studies including shelf-life assessment and identification of key product modes of failure.
Collect, produce and/or organize samples for shelf-life studies, analytical testing and consumer studies; analyze the results and report findings in an organized and detailed fashion
Operate lab-scale equipment including small-scale high shear mixer, lab pasteurization system, mechanical can seamers, etc.
Build technical knowledge in ingredients, product, process and packaging interactions, quality control, costs, and others
Be mechanically inclined to do trouble shooting of instruments and equipment.

What we’re looking for:

BS Food Science, Food Engineering, biochemistry or chemistry with strong interests in product development
0-2 years’ work experience
Have a strong interest in trying a wide range of flavors and tastes and doesn’t have food allergies
Be comfortable working within food/beverages and analytical laboratories and work with various equipment in the labs, at pilot plant and manufacturing plants as needed
Be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion, , stand for extended periods and work sometimes in no air-conditioned spaces for extended periods
Have the willingness and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment, and work collaboratively to meet deadlines.

Strongly Desired

Consumer Packaged Goods Industry Work Experience Have strong fundamentals of food science including chemistry, flavors, quality control and processing technologies
Be organized and curious, open to new ideas and have desires to learn new things
Be able to evaluate tasks, situations and requirements, seek assistances/directions as needed and develop solutions
