The Opportunity
The primary purpose of the Associate Project Manager role is to lead the delivery of projects. Each project will be delivered within constraints such as scope, quality, time, value and cost, which may be clearly defined or may require dynamic change management to deliver value. Throughout the lifecycle of each project the you will manage project teams, track and communicate project status, mitigates risk and resolve issues while remaining accountable for the success of all projects. This position is remote friendly (#LI-Remote) and you will report directly to our Assistant Director of Project Management.
In This Role You'll Get To:
  • Lead Team: Motivate team to ensure project milestones are accomplished following our goals. Demonstrate enthusiasm and foster team spirit. Work to resolve team problems and conflict. Give credit and acknowledge contributions of teammates. Build trust and encourage collaboration.
  • Manage Relationships: Establish relationships with all project personnel including partners, sponsors and executives. Resourcefully seek assistance, solicit diverse points of view, manage expectations, and diplomatically resolve conflicts to deliver predictable and successful project outcomes.
  • Plan and Manage Communications: Analyze communication needs and determine communication methods, channels, frequency and level of detail for all audiences ranging from team members to executive steering committee. Ensure quality, accuracy and integrity of project information and that feedback is received/acted upon.
  • Understand Business/Technical Impact: Ensure the relevant business, operational, technical and financial ramifications of the project are well understood and communicated. Engage appropriate SMEs, partners and sponsors to maximize value, minimize risks and costs, and to achieve predictable outcomes following established project success metrics.
  • Determine Project Methods/Practices: Assess project needs and select/implement most appropriate methods (predictive, agile, hybrid) to improve project execution, ensuring that team members are enabled to use the selected approach, methods, tools, and techniques.
  • Establish and Empower Team: Establish work plan and staffing for project activities, iterations or phases. Arrange for recruitment/assignment of project personnel while supporting diversity and inclusion. Assign responsibilities and scope of authority to project personnel. Assess team skills/performance and facilitate knowledge sharing to meet team needs.
  • Manage Project: Identify, scope and schedule project deliverables, resources, milestones and required activities and tasks. Perform risk assessment and implement mitigation plans. Establish standards for detailed project planning, estimating, tracking, reporting, documentation, issue and change management, success metrics, compliance, decision-making and governance. Monitor all project activities, and remedy trouble spots, and benchmark performance to identify improvements and achieve higher capability.
What we're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years relevant experience. (technical, business, or operations project management roles)
  • Equivalent of experience in lieu of degree acceptable: Yes
  • Professional Certification required: Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
  • Basic knowledge of project management methodologies (predictive, Agile)
  • Experience with how current and new technologies are being employed to support a digital business.
  • Microsoft tools: Teams, SharePoint, Office, Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), Visio, and Power BI
  • Project Management tools: Smartsheet, ConceptDraw, MS Project, JIRA, Workfront, and Azure DevOps
  • Experience working with more experienced project manager(s) and team members at all levels of seniority.
  • Demonstrate solid business and technical skills.
  • Understand when and how to escalate, take appropriate risk (avoid unnecessary risk) and understand impact of decisions.
  • Attendance, punctuality, and onsite presence are essential functions of this role
